73. Write someone a handwritten letter

I’m the type of person who has a much easier time expressing my thoughts and feelings through writing. Anyone who has ever received a birthday card from me knows this first hand. It’s important to me to tell people what they mean to me, regardless of if they never want to open a card from me ever again because I write such lengthy, mushy stuff inside of them.

Its been ages since I wrote someone a letter, and I was feeling kind of bad about it. I love email as much as the next person, but there’s something about getting a hand written letter that just makes you feel totally awesome inside and out. (Here’s your cue to start writing me letters, bitches)

My aunt recently wrote a novel and sent it to me. At first I felt pretty special that she was sharing it with me, especially since she sent me the unedited, longer, fully truthful version. By the time I finished reading it, I connected with the story on so many levels. Not only did she write an amazing (true) story, she inspired me, as a writer, in a way I’ve never been inspired before.

She has always loved writing letters, and even brings it up occasionally in the book. I remember we used to write each other letters when I was younger, and so I thought that would be a really great way for me to let her know that her book was amazing, and that she was an absolute inspiration to me.

I hope that when she receives it in a few days, that it makes her feel really good, since its her first fan letter. *fingers crossed for her getting published*
