19. Spend every weekend in 1 month away from New York
I didn’t plan on spending every month in August away from New York, it just sort of ended up that way, and I’m glad it did. Some of the best weekends I had all year were during this month, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Here’s a recap!
July 31-August 2 - Philadelphia:
Hanging out with Katie and Jimmy. Was sick, but didn’t care. Katie showed us around Philly. Chocolate martinis. Reading Terminal Market. Finding out I got a PUPPY. BILLY JOEL AND ELTON JOHN! Completely losing my voice. Wingfest! Watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and eating grilled cheese and tomato soup. Quite possibly the best weekend EVER.
August 8-9 - Allentown/Philadelphia:
Dorney Park for my sisters first date. Rollercoasters. Really cute plushies. Winning lots of games. Spending time with my brother. Seeing the look on all their faces in Times Square on our way home.
Waking up at 6am and taking the bus down to Philly. Nervousness. Making a crazy, spontaneous decision. (Probably the best idea ever) Giant cupcake. Devil’s Alley with Katie. Excitingness.
August 14-16 - Philadelphia:
One of the best nights of my life. Total drunkness with Katie, Carolyn, and Kara. Anti-boy mixes. Amazing friends. Lots of loud singing. Laughing. Cards. HAPPINESS. Wearing way too many layers of clothing. Loving life. Hangovers. Brunch in our PJs. Wandering around Philly unshowered and sweaty. Making out for hours with a cute boy. My first Blame Drew’s Cancer event. Irish Goodbyes. Cuddling. Shopping with Linzy and Katie. Insulting Mr. Softee. Sharing stories about crappy guys. Watching Confessions of a Shopaholic. Learning to crochet. Smelly train dudes. (Emotional breakdowns on the way home)
August 21-23 - Boston:
Houseboat. Roofdeck. Watching kids jump into the water from way too high up. Relaxation. Twisted Tea. Poker. Heated Uno matches. Wandering around Boston. Newbury Comics. Fire and Ice. Tealuxe. Boston Gardens. Some of my most favorite places. RIP STEVE (My brothers bird)
August 28-30 - New Jersey (Atlantic City):
Rainy bus ride. Drunk mom. Silly presents. House Blues Spinach Dip. Thoughts of someone cute. Mad Groovy Penguin. Ramona iced coffee. Away We Go. Emotional breakdown. Sleeping in. Bummin around all day. Seeing Alissa in Fame. Chicken Fingers. Shrink. Waking up way too early. Sleeping the whole way home.
